In the last newsletter, we introduced Families Forever as the new charity for WPPA. Here's a snippet from that article to a reacquaint you with the program:
What is Families Forever? First of all, it is not a money-dependent charity. Families Forever is a central resource for connecting our photographers' charitable hearts and considerable talent to those who desperately need both: families with a terminally ill loved one. Through Families Forever, photographers will be asked to donate their time and talent to create a family portrait for these families who are enduring the coming loss of a loved one. This portrait stands to be the lasting visual legacy of a once whole family and likely will prove to be a priceless gift to those addected by this tragedy. Your contribution as a photographer is your time and skill; the physical portrait to be delivered to the family will be a 24-inch print donated by one of our partners labs. Several labs are already on board with many more commitments to follow. In addition, we hope to bring on board a number of molding companies so that we can provide a finished, framed heirloom-quality gift to each family.
Update:
We are advancing in our effort to establish our new charity, Families Forever. A web site domain has been secured: www.families-forever.com. In addition, the charity subcommittee approved a logo design submitted by Donna Switchuhmzcsykoowskilly. Our next priority is to solidify the criteria that a client must "fit" in order to qualify for the program. Then, we will begin to create the information and design for the Families Forever web site.
Concurrently, we are seeking photographers and vendors who would like to become involved in this program.
For Photographers: List yourself as a Families Forever photographer on our web site. A client family may choose you as their designated FF photographer, at which time you will work with the family to schedule and capture a family protrait. You will work with the family to help them select the image that will become their free 24-inch portrait. Once you have retouched and finalized the image, you will submit the file to one of our Families Forever partner labs who will then print and mount the portrait. You will then deliver the finished portrait to the client.
